Hi there,

I'm just setting up my first newsletter to send out using your m2news service, I have created the content and features and included links etc. Then I sent a test copy to myself to review the layout, look and feel etc and then clicked on the link in the box below my newsletter that encourages the reader that might have sent the newsletter to a friend to subscribe to my newletter for them self. But when I click on this link in the test email version of the newsletter, there is an error box that is poping up and says the below.

ERROR!
Invild Query! You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 1' at line 1

Please help fix this issue.

Hi Phil,

1. Do you mean "Click here to subscribe to this newsletter" link?

2. What email program do you use to read the newsletter email?

I just sent your newsletter to my self as test and the link is just fine, could you please forward the newsletter to me at temp@mediatwo.com.au and I shall take a look at it.

Thank you

Hi Phil,

Thank for the info and the newsletter.

The link worked just for me so it is possible that it was one-time error, could you please try to send the newsletter to your self once more? if the link gives you an error, paste copy and the paste the url of the page where you see the error.

Thank you

Hi again, I have done as you suggested, but still having problems. I have put the error message that is shown. One other thing I note when the subscription box pops up is that there is a welcom message that indicates that I'm about to subscribe to the newsletter from a website and then it starts to list the URL address, however, it does not list any address at all! I assume that isn't how it should be as I would think there should be some indication that the subscriber is signing up to my philgrayconsulting newsletter! Please help fix.

Hi Phil,

I am sorry about the issue, I've found the cause!

You are getting the error message because the email you sent to your self is just for testing the looks of the newsletter, that's it. It was never meant to be used to sign up other people via that link to subscriber groups as the only person who will see the test newsletter is you, the link will work just fine if you send out the newsletter to a subscriber group.

I will put up a message in place of the error so it's clear to others, thank you for reporting the issue.

Thank you

Thanks for that. Glad you found the issue.

What about the point I made in the last post about the new subscriber not being able to see the URL address they are about to sign up (anyhow I couldnt see it) to while filling out their details? Will new subscribers definately be able to tell they are signing up to www.philgrayconsulting.com ?

Please let me know.

Regards

Hello,

The business name and the url will be displayed on the page, if you were to send a newsletter to your 'Radio industry subscribers' group for example, they will see this page: http://www.m2news.com.au/newsletter_signup.php?g=9458

Thank you

Hi there again, one more question... how can I send an automatic 'current issue' newsletter to new subscribers that sign up from my website?

Hi,
As you would have seen, you can specify a newsletter to be sent when they subscribe, but not a 'current issue' one at the moment. Perhaps we could create an option to have it send either the most recent one that you have sent, or a specific one on subscribing? would that work for you?

Hi there Roger, thank you for getting back to me. Sending the most recent one would be fine. I have 2 versions of the news letter, a general and radio issue, is it possible to enable them to also select what version they would like, and can they pick both it they wanted both? When might this be put in place?

Kind regards, Phil Gray

Hi,
The ability to select a specific email or the latest sent to the group they are subscribing to is easy, and is being done now. But I think the ability to choose which one during subscribing though wouldn't be of much use to others, and there is no way to easily incorporate such a feature.

What they get should be decided by what they are subscribing to. You could have a group for those who subscribe to the radio newsletters, and a group for those who subscribe to the general, and then have 2 subscribe forms in your site. People generally subscribe to specific things, as they like to know what they will be getting.

Hi there again Roger, having two subscribe forms for my site (1 for general, and 1 for radio subscribers) sounds great, and I would assume they would then be added to the appropriate list.. Are you able to please set this up for me? What is the cost for you to do this?

And then closely connected to that, when and how can we set it up so that a new subscriber is automatically sent the latest correct and appropriate newsletter?

I also have a general website issue or question. Is it possible to have the background color where all the copy/text for each page is pure white? I also wonder if it it is possible to also have a full page width section for the logo , tag line, graphic image a client like me might want to place top of site.. whereas at the moment, there is just a box for the logo and tag line. Please let me know.

Kind regards,

Phil Gray

Hi,
the ability to have the two subscribe forms already exists, because the subscribe form relates top the ghroup of subscribers, so each group has its own subscribe form.

We're working on the abilioty to assign the latest sent newsletter to a group.

Regarding wesbite question, do none of the other templates suit? we could make a variation of the one you are using if you like, otherwise, you can change your site template at any time to see how it looks under different designs.
