I'm seriously considering joining your company to host my intended website but I'm a little confused about the emailing side of things and hope you can explain things in terms that a five year old can easily understand as I'm pretty clueless in this sort of thing.

I see that you offer additional email boxes, i.e info@mydomain.com butwhile I understand that such an email box can receive incoming emails I can't make out if the site holder can send emails from them too.

The reason I'm interested in such an option is because I own and operate a book publishing house in northern Queensland and the last thing on earth I want to do is to have Uncle Tom Cobly and all knowing what my private email address is as would be authors have no respect for privacy when attempting to submit their pretty feble book manuscripts/artwork.

Therefore I want to be able to keep them at bay by using an email box to reply to quiries of all natures without anyone being able to connect my website with my private email address that I would recieve incoming emails through.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and can satisffy my concerns.

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
yes, you can send emails from that email; address. It all comes down to how you set up your account in outlook/windows mail.

Lets say you set up info@yourdomain.com. If you set it as your default account in outlook, then all emails you send will be seen as being from that email address.

If you have (for example) a bigpond email address already, and keep that one as the default, then that will be used to send your emails.

However, when you have more than one set up in outlook, you can also choose which one to use when you go to write a new email (or reply to one), as the option is in the email you write.

Let me know if this explains what you needed tom iknow clearly enough.
Cheers
Roger

Yes Roger, clear as mud (Just joking)

The only thing that I now need to work out is how I can use this system using my Yahoo email box as that's the one I use all the time instead of my AAPT ISP one as yahoo is far more convenient for me.

I suppose you're going to tell me that it won't work with a Yahoo email box and wreck my day altogether.

Regards
Stefan

Hi,
Well, to send email using the account at your domain then you'll need to use an email program, such as windows mail, or outlook expess etc. You can also set up the email program to receive your yahoo email, they have a pop3 setting you can use.

Right, I've got everything sorted out with my Outlook Express now so Im now going to have a play with the demo before I sign up just to make sure that I can do what I want to do to create the sort of website I have in mind.

Thanks for your help

So much for playing with the demo to see how it works because the bloody thing doesn't work at all for me as I can't alter a thing to teach myself!

Yeah, you cant save pages in the demo, but you can see how the editor works etc. If you want to play more and see changes, you can try the demo at www.m2cms.com.au which lets you save what you have done, but the changes get reset every hour on the hour. It iuses the same page editor as our freesites system.

Thanks mate, it was becoming very frustrating and I'm not prepared to put my money into something like this until I know I can work with it alright, common sense really.

Geez but this is driving me nuts!
I clicked on the link you gave me and got to the site but it won't let me login now.
I've tried about a dozen times, but still no go.
It certainly isn't convining me that I should buy into this system.

maybe you have cookies disabled in your browser settings, that would stop you from beign able to login. Also if your browser is really old (like Internet Explorer 6) then you will have problems too.

If it doesn't work for you, then I would suggest forgetting about it, but it works for everyone else, there are over 500 users of Freesites now. So if it doesnt work, it's your computer or browser, not the system, and shy of telling you to set your browser's security and cookies to default levels, there isn't much we can do. Also, don't use Safari if you're on a Mac. Usually Safari is ok, but it can be temperamental, as Macs arent really meant for business related uses.

The disabled cookies explains it then, but would that stop me from using my own site for deiting purposes if I buy into one?

Yes, you need to be able to login, and the site sets a cookie as part of your login session to keep you logged in and to know you are the one who is authorised to be in your account.

Hi Roger

I've been trying to allow cookies on my computer to be able to use your system but seem to be getting nowhere.
I'm using WindowsXP with ver 8.0 as my browser and have been following these steps to try and do it:

Click on TOOLS in the top bar
Change to PRIVACY TAB
Set slide to medium and click SITES
Go to 'Adress of website bar and enter in mediatwo.com.au & click allow, also for m2cms.com.au
Finally click OK in all popup screens to close them both.

However it still won't allow me to logon into the site addy link you supplied here so I have to assume that I'm doing somethjing wrong, can you tell me what and how to correct it please?

Thanks

Hi,
you should still be able to login to the demo at www.freesites.com.au

In your browser settings, in the Security tab, set the slider to mediaum-high, and in Privacy set it to medium. You don't need to add domains to any list there.
