I keep writing out a question in here and every time I post the bugger all I get up is a box asking me to bloody well login again, and again. This time I'll make it short and to the point as I'm getting a tad pissed off now.......... Whenever I enter my own website's full URL into any/all search engines I only get directed to the Freesites website, and DO NOT go directly into my own as I should do, and by what I see you telling everyone else around here they should do also. So I want to know why this is happening, as all my stationary, and books now carry the URL for Moorna Publications, but no one can enter the site directly, so it's a total watse of time displayiong it anywhere. If this situation continues any longer I fail to see the point of having Freesites as our hosting company as anyone/everyone should be able to enter my website now by typing in www.moornapublications.com. but they can't as things stand. The site has been up and running for 6 weeks pus, and doesn't even show up in any form in any search engine yet either. Google, Yahoo and other bots have visited it according to my stats, but still no direct entry, only via Freesites My presective clients MUST be able to enter it directly, NOT via Freesites if it's to be any use to us. |

Why are you still pasting your url into search engines? You have been told in several posts in this forum that this is completely pointless. Search engines are where you search for a site that you don't yet know exist, not for pasting url's into. If you already know the url for the site you want, you will paste the url into address bar on your browser, and be taken directly to the site. You will not go via a search engine. Try pasting your url in to the address bar, and you will see that it works fine. You could even just click the blue link you have put in the post above, and it should take you straight to your site. As for not showing up in google for other search terms, there could be many reasons for that. You might not be using relevant search phrases/words in the SEO fields in your site, so that google doesn't think your site is relevant for the searches you put in, or there could be so much competition for the search terms you have chosen that other sites rank higher (sites that have been around longer and are more popular will rank higher). If you are interested in learning more about optimising your site for google, you could google 'search engine optimisation' and get some good tips. But please note that this has nothing to do with getting it to show up when you paste in your url. |

Even when I click on my own URL on this message all I am getting is this message: This website is coming soon, Please check back later. if this is your site and you're ready to set it live, you can do so via the settings page in your site management area. www.freesites.com.au It's been there for 6 weeks now, so why is this still happening? |

I just clicked the link above myself, and I see that you have set your site to show the 'Website coming soon' page. This means that google can't see your site either, which is why it hasn't indexed it yet. You need to go to your settings and change your site to be live, under the option called 'site coming soon'. It says so right there in the message, to go to your settings to change whether or not the coming soon page displays. |

I might just do that if Fresites would allow me to login into my account, but I can't even do that any more

There is nothing wrong with the system that is preventing you from logging in. You haven't said anything about what the problem is, but have you tried to recover your password? Or did you change your contact email in the settings recently? Whatever email address you put in the settings is what you use to log in. |

I've now just managed to get in there and do that. It wouldn't allow my to do it before as every time I tried it just ignored things when I went to save the new settings. It's now working. Thank you |

Sounds like a browser issue to me. If the system wasn't allowing logins we wouldn't hear the end of it from our 500 other clients...:)

And yet, nothing has changed with the system.... so it must be your computer that is failing when trying to login. Stefan, you should stop typing your website address into a google search field, as that isnt the way to visit a website, because if google hasnt indexed it yet, then it wont find the site. Type it into the browser's address bar. Remember, people type search terms into a google search filed, and not full website addresses. |
