Hi,

I am trying to list my site wtih Google, and it's asking me to place a meta tag on my home page between the section, and before the first section so they can verify I am the owner of the site. I had a play around on my site (www.passion4properties.com.au) and it doesn't appear to let me do this? (It deletes it out of the source area when I go to save it.) Is this something I should be able to do?

Whilst I'm still setting up my site and I understand that the text I use has some impact on search engine ranking, I'm trying to ensure that my site will be listed by Google, as I understand this can take a while.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks,

Hi,

the code it's asking you to add is probably for Google Analytics, to verify your site to give you access to their statistics tools etc. Your site already has a statistics tool, so this isn't needed, but if you still want it you can email us the code and we will add it for you.

To find out more about how your site will rank in Google and how to affect it, I would recommend reading up on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). It's basically about picking the keywords you think people would search for when looking for your site, and implementing them in the site.

Please bear in mind that Google doesn't require this code in your site for them to index and then list your site in search results.

Thanks for clarifying that.

I will leave it for now and get my content set up and see how it goes.
