Hi Support, my newsletter Wildlife Bytes margin has moved again, and I cannot save the complete newsletter, some text is being cut off at the end of the newsletter. I still can't do "read more" links, sometimes it will work, most times not, so Ive just had to take the longer links out. Can you help with these problems? Thanks, Pat O'Brien

Hi,

Why can't you select a word and apply a link to it? what exactly happens when you do it?

By the way, I have shortened your links in your latest one for you.

I also see you have been saving the previous one as a new one each time insterad of creating a new one from the template. This means the your last half dozen or so all have the same error at the bottom, where code is showing due to some editing error. I'll fix the latest one for you.

Hi again, thanks for your help with Wildlife Bytes. The newsletter is still not saving all the text at the bottom, (our disclaimer is missing) and the margin with the text links you put in has completley disappered.

What I have been trying to do with text links is copy the URL, then highlight the words "read more", then open the linking box. When I paste in the URL, the highlight on "read more" disappears, so the link doesnt work. I have spent many hours trying to get the linking box to work, and I just cant spend any more time on it.

I also didnt know I could get a blank template, I've been copying the last newsletter, then deleting the old text and pasting in the new. It's all very frustrating. Thanks anyway, Pat

So far, you're the only one who has the highlighted text become unhighlighted while pasting in the link URL. To be able to find out why this is happening, we'd need to know what computer you are using, and what version of what browser you are using.

It could also be the result of some anti-spyware software you have running that has changed the way your browser behaves.

Either way, your browser is doing bad things to the newsletter, it should not be possible to delete parts of the table from simply editing the text. Unless you do too much backspacing or something, but without watching you do it, I can't say for sure how it happens.
So I would suggest downloading and using a different one, such as Firefox or Opera (assuming you are not already using one of those)

Finally, when you ebnter text, there is no need to set it to black. And for headings, instead of bolding it, making the font size bigger and setting it to green, Simply type your heading, Hit enter, then select it and set it to "heading 1" under the 'paragraph' drop down menu. This will automatically apply the correct styling to it. You might find it easier to go through at the end and set all the headings as the 'heading 1' style. That's how I'd do it anyway.

I have fixed it again for you. Perhaps if you can't stop deleting the right column, then maybe it should be removed completely?

Thanks for that, youve confirmed what I already suspected...its my computer! I'm using an ASUS laptop with Vista, and I have had no end of trouble with it, every now and again it even changes the computer settings.

When we can afford it, we'll change to Windows 7 perhaps. I've tried Firefox before, and had problems with that too. I think we should remove the Wildlife Bytes margin as you suggested, can you do that for us? Then I can start again with the new template. Thanks for your help, Pat

Done, and saved, (when you create annew one now and select the template, it will not have the right hand column, despite the image showing it in the custom templates listr)

and I have edited your newsletter to remove the column.
Cheers,
Roger

After many attempts Im going to sent the newsletter out as is, because I just cant spend any more time on it. If I cant fix this problem I'm going to have to go back to email, thanks Pat

Strange. Just confirming -- you do wait for the pop up message that says "Newsletter has been saved" after clicking the 'save this newsletter' button don't you?

Because it saves fine every time for me, and I'm just using internet explorer version 8. It takes about 3 seconds to save for me before it pops up the message.

Hi, yes I wait for the popup box to tell me the Newsletter is saved, then I wait a bit more just in case. I dont know what version of IE Im using, but Vista is set to upgrade automatically. It's got me beat, cheers, Pat
