Hi
Every other page we have saves and publishes, and the Home page did until last night, now I can make no changes to it because it wont save and publish them..comes up saying "ERROR try again later", well its been about 12 hours and it just wont save or save and publish. All I have to add is 3 capital P's to correct an error on my part and I cannot. Even if I make no changes and press Save and Publish the error msg comes up. HELP PLEASE.

This is because you have been pasting from word, which copies across a lot of Word only formatting which messes up the editor. You can see all this unnecessary coding if you click the 'source' tab at the bottom of the editor.

I would suggest removing all of the content and starting over, preferably by typing it into the editor without formatting the text. All our templates come with the font that looks best with it, so there is never any need to format it. The font will then change if you ever decide to change the template.

If you must paste from Word, use the 'paste from word' or 'paste as plain text' option.

I copied from yahoo email not word as I wanted to be able to spell check and I couldnt find a spell check on your page (even though it is mentioned as being there.....maybe I'm too blonde to find it). I deliberately DID'NT use word because I did read your instructions. I cannot start again, because it wont save it when I delete everything and start again either,I have tried this numerous times, doI delete the source page instead?

Ok I was blonde and after deeting the edit AND the source page (I hadnt thought to delete the source page) I found the spell check which is unfortunately in american english and not ENGLISH which Australians speak and spell with, but anyway all is perfect now. Thank you for mentioning the source page. Might I suggest that there be mention of that somewhere in your help suggestions, & for idiots like myself perhaps that not only word documents are bad but any other source but your edit page? It would have saved me a lot of frustrations. This was a first time thing for me, and I cant imagine that I would be the only novice to give it a go, if we were all pc boffins we would have designed our own from scratch I imagine. Thanks for the help.

Hi,
The spell check might be using American English, but it does the job, and we all know where they leave out the u in words and use z instead of s, so it isn't an issue. Plus we have no control over the spell check dictionary, and you can add your own words to it.

We have only mentioned pasting from Word, because that's been the only culprit to mess up pages in the last 4 years. If we continually see the issue caused by pasting from other sources, then we'd advise against that too. We didn't expect anyone to copy content from an email for their site, as that is quite a strange thing to do.

We do make it easy to use for novices and people who are not web developers, and continually review the system and adjust where we see people are having problems understanding specific aspects, but we also expect people to be able to use a computer, (meaning the basics of computer usage) and read the help and instructions. If you are suggesting we should mention the use of the source tab, it is mentiond in the help for the editor. However, the source tab is there for people who know how to edit HTML code, and those people don't need to be told about it, because they would specifically look for it and find it. 99% of users will never use the source tab.
